Search Engines What is a search engine?

Here are three good search engines for children:

Quintura for Kids
kids.yahoo.com
askforkids.com

A search engine is an electronic program that searches the Internet for relevant information.  Type a keyword or keywords to help locate or narrow your search for information.

For example, click on kids.yahoo.com.  If you type in the keywords polar bear, you will get the following list of Internet links.

Help your child research topics of interest using a search engine.  Remember, not all information found on the Internet is reliable!  Look for well-known sites like:

animal.discovery.com

kids.nationalgeographic.com
