Francesca Reggiani

Francesca Reggiani, an Italian native, loves speaking three languages, Italian, French, and English. For this reason she has taught foreign languages as a private tutor for many years to a vast array of students.

Ms. Reggiani grew up in Andes, a small village near the city of Mantova, situated in a river valley in the north of Italy.  She came to Louisville for the first time in 2003 to research her thesis on a Louisville poet, Hortense Flexner. Ms. Reggiani graduated from Università di Parma in 2004 with the thesis “Hortense Flexner: Vita e Poesia.” In the same year she participated at the conference “Marguerite Yourcenar et l’Universe Poétique” in Tokyo with the essay “Au voisinage du roc et la vague. Marguerite Yourcenar traductrice d’Hortense Flexner.  Ekstrom Library’s Special Collections at the University of Louisville now houses a copy of both works.

In 2005, Ms. Reggiani moved to Louisville where she lives with her husband, Keenan Buie, their son Silvio and their Airedale puppy, Basil. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, hiking cooking Italian food, reading, and most of all, watching European soccer.

She is extremely grateful to her mother and father that instilled in her the passion for travelling, discovering new cultures and traditions. She developed an open mind toward new experiences, which fostered her interest in foreign languages.  With the world only a click away, she maintains the belief that learning foreign languages is essential to understanding global diversity and becoming a citizen of the world.
