---------------------- If you want a video (taken by a private company of the Graduation Party and Graduation)... the $38 is due June 12th ------------------ Project Adventure Class Trip Monday, November 3, 2008 The challenge course known a "Project Adventure is located at the Nassau BOCES Brookville Outdoor & Environmental Education Center. This 16 acre park was formally a NIKE missle base used for air defense during the cold war. Today, it provides educational programs to teachers and students. The students are guided through a series of initiatives designed to enhance classroom, family, peer, workplace, and other community interactions for more info see: http://www.nassauboces.org/enviroed/programs/brookville.htm#adventure
--------------------- 6th Grade Dues--- $75.00 due by November 3, 2008 These funds (along with fundraising and PTA donation) will pay for: Class of 2009 T-shirt, Senior Trip (admission ticket/ transportation), and supplies for the Afterschool Graduation Party (decorations/ food/ DJ), Memory book, Showcase ---------------------- 6th Grade Showcase--- that's the showcase to the right of the security / welcome desk! This showcase will be filled with a display of all of our 6th graders baby photos. Please send in a picture of 6th graders when they were 2 years of age or younger. The face should measure approximately 2" x 2". Place your child's name on the back. Make sure it's an extra as photos will not be returned. Please send in by October 17th. ------------------- 6th Grade Memory Book----vs ----- 6th Grade Yearbook The Yearbook is the District 13 Yearbook of all 6th Graders from ALL 4 schools (Dever/Howell/Wheeler/Willow) using the photos that will are taken this month on Picture Day along with a group shot of all 6th graders, and photos of all clubs/activites taken on Candid Picture day in December. Additional information will be sent home regarding the "exact spelling" of names, and other items that will be included. The Memory Book is an informal book of 6th grade memories.... using either the photos from picture day, or those taken by the committe, the students will be asked in the Springtime to make a note of memorable moments. In addition, the committee is NOW asking for any pictures that you have from their Kindergarten through 5th grade years. They will of course accept photos for this year as you take them!!! The preferred way to send would either be email to meltz145@msn.com or forward on CD with your child. Paper Photos will be accepted, but not returned. In any case, label the photo with the grade or year it was taken. If the photos are stuck in your computer or camera, and you don't know how to send them, call Grace Meltzer, and she'll arrange a time to copy them from you. They would love to try and include as many photos as possible. --------------------------- 6th Grade Parent Meeting on Wednesday, September 24th at 7:00 pm in the small gym
Come to find out about and plan the important activities for your 6th grader's final year at Wheeler.
Some of the ideas we'll be discussing involve the end of year graduation trip, fund-raising options, the 2009 yearbook (and signing party), the graduating class t-shirts, and the lobby showcase. Please keep in mind that many of the decisions affecting ALL 6th graders will be made at THIS meeting. If you want to have a voice in the decision-making, please do your best to attend.
