2009 - 2010 Theme: "Beauty Is..."
The Victor Central School District is participating in the annual National PTA Reflections Program. Reflections is an art program which offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Each year, a new theme is chosen from thousands of ideas submitted by students from around the country.
In its 40 year history, the PTA Reflections Program has encouraged millions of students across the country, in preschool through grade 12 to explore their artistic talents. Children are encouraged to create original works of art based on the year’s theme. Entries are accepted in six categories; Dance Choreography, Film/Video Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Under the related files below, you will find the student rules, the rules for each category, and the entry form.
All works with the completed entry form attached will need to be brought to the student’s main office anytime before November 6th, 2009. Alternatively, if you would like to make arrangements to drop off your work, please contact one of the Reflections coordinators, Wendy Glaess kwglaess@frontiernet.net or Karen Hansen karenhansen7@hotmail.com. Projects are to be completed independently at home unless specified as an in school project by their teacher. All students who participate in this year’s Reflections program will receive recognition during the second and third weeks of November. A gallery of this years works will be on display in the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) Boardroom during the second and third week in November, and participants will be recognized during the Victor Board of Education monthly meeting on November 12th at 7:15pm in the ECEC Boardroom. In addition, participants and their families are invited to the 3rd annual Reflections Night to be held during the November PTSA Membership Meeting on November 17th at 7:00pm at the ECEC Boardroom located in the Early Childhood Education Center. For this year's Reflections Night, Dave Denner, Visual Arts Coordinator for K-12 will be our guest speaker.
The Reflections Program is structured to recognize students at local, regional, state and national levels. Entries are first judged at the local level, where selected works are chosen to be presented at the next level. At the national level, Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit are presented in each grade division within each arts area. One Outstanding Interpretation award recipient is also chosen in each art area. For more information about the National PTA Reflections Program, visit www.pta.org/reflections.

The Victor Central School District along with the Victor Central PTSA is encouraging students to participate in this program’s third year at Victor Central Schools. As parents, teachers and community members, we all play a critical role in fostering our children’s creative process. This program is a great opportunity for our children to create works of art for fun and expression, and to be recognized for their artistic efforts.
This program is open to all Victor students from preschool through grade 12, including children with special needs.
