At St. Pius X School we are committed to the use of technology in the academic program as a tool to expand learning opportunities and to conduct scholarly research. More simply, students must know what technology is, how it works, what purposes it can serve, and how it can be used efficiently and effectively to achieve specific goals.
Standard 2: Information Systems: Students will access, generate, process, and transfer information using appropriate technologies.
Objectives:
§ Students will understand the moral and ethical use of computer technology in light of Gospel values.
§ Students will use a wide range of equipment and software to integrate several forms of information in order to create good quality presentations.
§ Students will use spreadsheets and database software to collect, process, display, and analyze information.
§ Students will access needed information from electronic databases and on-line services.
§ Students will obtain accurate and relevant information pertaining to a particular topic from a range of sources.
§ Students will collect data from probes to measure events and phenomena.
§ Students will understand the need to question the accuracy of information displayed on a computer because results may be affected by incorrect data entry.
§ Students will use graphical, statistical, and presentation software to present project to fellow classmates and/or school.
