                                                                                       November 15, 2009

Dear Parents,

I would like to thank you all for your patience while our new building is being completed.  I can finally give you a date for moving-we will be back in our room on Monday, November 30th!  All students may be dropped off, at our classroom, at 8:20 AM and picked up at 11:00 AM.  Pre-K 3 can be dropped off at our classroom at 12:20 PM and picked up from our classroom at 3:00 PM.  If you are arriving earlier than 8:20 AM you are free to go to the playroom.  All I will ask is that you please pick up when you leave, there will be other classes using the room now that we are out of it.

Last week we worked on the letter Cc and we made cornucopias in honor of Thanksgiving. We also have been working on tracing our names, sorting and patterning.  The children in PK 3 have been doing such a great job in technology!  The technology teacher let them do what the kindergarten classes have been doing!  The family crests have been coming in and they look great!

This week we will be learning about Thanksgiving and completing some Thanksgiving activities.  We will also be learning about and printing the letter Tt.

IMPORTANT:

Pre-K 1 and Pre-K 3 WILL have class on NOVEMBER 19TH!  The rest of the school will not be in session because of Parent/Teacher conferences.  I will be having Parent/Teacher conferences on February 26th.

Please remember to assist your child with his/her book for Book In The Bag.  We will continue to exchange books on Monday for Pre-K 2 and Pre-K 3 and Tuesday for Pre-K 1.  If you have any questions/requests, please drop me a note.  If the children are interested in doing "homework", I would suggest that after reading the book they can write or draw their favorite part of the story; they could also change the ending of the story; write or draw a book report which includes the name of the author and illustrator, and a summary of the story.  I will gladly look over the homework and give each child a sticker for his/her great work!

The food drive went very well, I would like to thank everyone for participating.

The Library will be having its annual Scholastic Book Fair during the week of November 16th-November 20th.  The book fliers went home last week.  You may visit the library during the school day to look over books; or, place an order in your child's folder and I will send it to the library to be filled.  I will not be doing book orders during November.  I will send home Scholastic book order forms in the beginning of December, in time for Christmas-books make great Christmas presents!

REMINDERS

There will be no school on November 26th and 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Pre-K 3 will have its Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 10th at 6:30 PM in the Parish Center.

While we are in our temporary classroom, please try to take your child to the bathroom before class begins.  We will take the children when they ask or we will ask them if we notice anything unusual in their behavior.  However, this does take away from class time when there are 5 or 6 children who need to use the bathroom at one time.

The weather is getting cooler so please make sure your child will be warm enough when we go outside.  We will go out as often as possible depending on the weather.

Please make sure that your child has a folder and backpack for class each day.  Usually there is something that needs to go home from the office and/or class.  The folder is an easy way of keeping track of papers.  Also, please go through your child's folder each night.  I have sent home emergency phone chains and some other important information that you should keep near your phone.

Please label your child's folder, backpack and clothing.  We are trying to contain everything in the playroom, but we make mistakes.  Labeling clothing will be very helpful especially since all the sweatshirts look alike.

Please continue to check the calendar on this website for updated information.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and feel free to contact me with any questions!
