http://teachersites.schoolworld.com/webpages/TDiNarda/rss/blog_9224.xmlTerri DiNarda Blogen-usSun, 08 Aug 2010 19:32:12 GMTSun, 08 Aug 2010 19:32:12 GMTSchool World<P>First of all, I have to say I love my new class!&nbsp;(If my "old" class is reading, I love you all too, and I miss you.&nbsp; Stop by the say hello!)&nbsp; They are so eager and ready to learn.&nbsp; The first week went very well, although we were exhausted on Friday.&nbsp; Thank goodness for the weekend.&nbsp; I know we will be back on Monday well rested and&nbsp;ready to begin the school routine.</P> <P>If you haven't had a chance to see our new preschool, stop by sometime to take a peek.&nbsp; It is absolutely beautiful.&nbsp; New beginnings are always so exciting.</P> <P>&nbsp;</P> <P>&nbsp;</P> <P>&nbsp;</P><P><STRONG>Happy Birthday Kayla!&nbsp; </STRONG>She was so excited, I just had to mention it.&nbsp; It was a great day today!&nbsp; The kids really impressed me with their reading today.&nbsp; We tried Buddy Reading/explain what you read, and they did great.&nbsp; First we practiced how we sit-EEKK!&nbsp; Elbow, elbow, knee, knee (we have been doing this for a couple of days.)&nbsp; We sit close to one another so we can hear our partner and only our partner.&nbsp; We also practice our voices.&nbsp; If we are sitting close, we can use quiet voices to read.&nbsp; When we read with our buddies, we shouldn't be able to hear anyone else.&nbsp; We are also coaches!&nbsp; A great coach knows when to guide and help their buddy, and when to let our buddy figure it out on his or her own.&nbsp; We discussed three ways of Buddy Reading-choral reading, echo reading, and taking turns.&nbsp; We took turns today.&nbsp; We would follow along as our partner read, and then told our partner what we heard.&nbsp; It was a great way to practice comprehension.&nbsp; </P> <P>Check out our math page to find out what we did in math today-it was alot of fun!&nbsp; </P> <P>Lastly, I hope you enjoyed your "taproot"&nbsp; (carrot.)&nbsp;&nbsp;</P> <P>Hopefully tomorrow will be another great day!&nbsp; </P> <P>&nbsp;</P><P>It was another great day in third grade.&nbsp; No matter how bad my day starts, my class always make me feel better!&nbsp; Thanks for the morning hugs and the compliments ( you know who you are!)&nbsp; You all make my job seem, well, not like a job!&nbsp; </P> <P>Make sure you study for spelling!&nbsp; See you tomorrow!</P> <P>&nbsp;</P>Hello third grade! &nbsp;</div><P>What a beautiful weekend.&nbsp; I was lucky enough to attend the Fairy Ball at Great Trail Girl Scout Camp.&nbsp; I help with my niece's troop, and this was our first time camping.&nbsp; It brought back so many memories.&nbsp; I attended camp with my troop when I was a young girl, as well as spending a week every summer at Great Trail.&nbsp; I was also a leader for my daughter's Kerri troop from Daisies to Cadettes, so it was sentimental to return. </P> <P>I was also reminded what a wonderful organization Girl Scouts is.&nbsp; Thank you to all the leaders, moms, older scouts that helped out, and especially Penny Hewitt who put this camping outing together.&nbsp; I am exhausted today, but it was so much fun.&nbsp;&nbsp; </P> <P>Imagine my surprise (and theirs!) when I saw many of the girls from St. Louis.&nbsp;Check out our pictures on our slide show.&nbsp; </P><P>It was another great day in third grade.&nbsp; I love the enthusiasm of my class.&nbsp; We were a little squirrely today (is that a word?), but that's what makes the day interesting!&nbsp; </P> <P>Happy Birthday, Alexis!&nbsp; I hope you enjoy the weekend!&nbsp; Thank you for the pizza.</P> <P>&nbsp;</P>Today we watched a news depth video.It was about Haiti.We also learned about every thing else that is going around the world.&nbsp;Wow! &nbsp;It's been a long time since we have posted. &nbsp;We are going to try to post a couple of times a week. &nbsp;It's actually a job, so we can keep ourselves on track.<div><br></div><div>We had a really great day. &nbsp;This class is so enjoyable. &nbsp;One of the things we did was watch a news report (as Logan reported) geared towards this age group. &nbsp;I think it is important the kids know what is going on in the world, and the video created some teachable moments and offered an opportunity to have some great discussions. &nbsp; Of course, the main story was about the devastation in Haiti. &nbsp;We also learned national news and news related to Ohio. &nbsp;The kids all rated it 4 stars, so hopefully we can watch it at least every other week. &nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>It's a homework break night tonight! &nbsp;Hopefully you have all started on your spelling, so all you have is reading. &nbsp;Enjoy!</div>Today our class had Adjective day at school. I saw many costumes. They were so cute: I loved it. I was sparkling for the day. We had so much FUN!&nbsp; &nbsp; <br>Hi, my class is having Catholic Schools week. I love it. On Wednesday we went to the library to clean. &nbsp;Today is Thursday: it is black and gold day, everybody looks good. &nbsp;We just decided that we would get a class pet and it is a fish. &nbsp;We are probably going to get it in a week, but we are all so excited! We go to carpet every morning and we say hello in different languages. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Yesterday was an awesome day! our special was Gym. We played some partner jog and capture the ball. We had alot of Fun! We had spaghetti; everybody loves spaghetti! We are all glad we had a very fun day! &nbsp; &nbsp;This week has flown by! &nbsp;Maybe it's the beautiful weather! &nbsp;I asked the class what they wanted me to blog about, so here are their ideas!<div><br></div><div>The boy scouts challenged the girl scouts in their derby car race! &nbsp;Evan, Matthew, Logan, David, and Ryan all participated, and Evan came in first place. It sounds as if everyone had a great time!</div><div><br></div><div>We made chicks popping out of eggs for art this week. &nbsp;They look very "springy" on our bulletin boards!</div><div><br></div><div>Congratulations to Maverick, who did very well at his cattle show this past weekend.</div><div><br></div><div>We are looking forward to next Wednesday, which is Maria's Star of the Day day (from the auction), the bus driver's birthday, Ethan's birthday, and my anniversary! &nbsp;(Our conversations are so informational!)</div><div><br></div><div>Everyone seems to be doing well with the Apostle's Creed. &nbsp;Remember, we will test on Wednesday.</div><div><br></div><div>We are also preparing for our mass next Friday. &nbsp;Hope to see you there!</div>This morning is a usual day. George is always chasing Bubbles and Mickey. Last week we were learning about perimeter and area and are going to have a test. This morning, we are going to have a spelling pretest and whoever gets all the words right does not have to take the spelling test on &nbsp;Friday. I hope all my predictions come true.Today was an awesome day! It was very sunny and hot outside,and warm. Yesterday was a great day to. We saw a play called Nifty Fifty thanks to Mrs. Appleby. We enjoyed it! It's also the weekend so <b><font class="Apple-style-span" color="#FF0033">HOORAY for FRIDAY!</font></b>I can't believe the year is winding down. &nbsp;I look at my class in awe sometimes because I am so proud of all of their achievements. &nbsp;They have come a long way since the beginning of the year. &nbsp;They are ready for fourth grade, but I'm not so sure I am ready for them to leave third grade!Will today we made tie dyed t-shirts in class. Also on Wednesday we went to the Akron Zoo. It was fun and we saw same new anmals at the zoo. We are going to have&nbsp;Olympic Day on Tuesday, and on the last day of the school year we are go to wear&nbsp;our tie dyed t-shirts.<P>Hey third grade!&nbsp; I hope everyone is having a great summer.&nbsp; I am in our nation's capital, Washington DC.&nbsp; I haven't seen President Obama yet, but I am still on the hunt!&nbsp; It is so hot here, but always beautiful.&nbsp;</P> <P>I know your summer is just beginning, but don't forget to work on those math facts!&nbsp; REPEAT AFTER ME-SIMPLE SOLUTIONS!!!!!!</P><P>Can you believe it-summer is almost over and school&nbsp;is two short weeks away!&nbsp; I am excited to&nbsp;start and ready to meet my new class.&nbsp;(My "old" class, you know I love you&nbsp;and miss you!)&nbsp; &nbsp;I know you have all heard that (Miss Palomba) Mrs. Adams will not be back at St. Louis, and I will miss her as much as all of you.&nbsp; But we wish her well on her new journey and know she will be a "wise person" for all the children and teachers at her new school.&nbsp; Melissa, if you are reading this, we love you!&nbsp; We know you will do great at your new job!&nbsp; </P> <P>I hope you have all been reading this summer and working on your addition and subtraction facts.&nbsp; Get dirty, swim and splash, and enjoy the last few days of summer!&nbsp; We are going to have an amazing year together!&nbsp; </P> <P>&nbsp;</P>
