Our service project for November is the collection of canned food items.

In LA (language arts) this week we will continue to work on sounding out(decoding) short a, short i, short o, short u, short e, and or words.   There are no vocabulary words this week.

There are no spelling words this week.

We have finished Level 1.2.  The students will be tested on the vocabulary for this level.  This means they should be able to read the words fluently(on sight) without taking time to sound them out.  All the words from this level can be found on the VOCABULAY link.

There will also be a test on the skills presented in Level 1.2.  This includes decoding or hearing the following sounds: short e, short o, or, s blends, r blends, th, and sh. They will also be required to read 2 short stories and answer questions about the stories.

We will finish Chapter 12 on number patterns: counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's.  We will also learn to read ordinal numbers and identify the ordinal placement of an object.

The students have been working on solving problems using the Singapore model and number bonds.  See if they can explain what these are.

The students will continue to work on the addition facts.

The students will write small moments.  A small moment is something that really happened to them that they tell l-o-n-g.  It is a "part of the day story" with actions.
