We're in the home stretch of the 2012-13 school year but our work is far from done! We have so many wonderful events to look forward to in May starting with the Mother's Day Plant Sale. We will host Cultural Arts assemblies at both schools. Petra Puppets will be performing at Stokes on May 14th and Bubble Wonders will entertain Sparke students on May 20th. Special Guest Day for 3rd grade students is May 16th! Also in May, Team Adventure Day at Stokes and Field Day at Sparke with a vistit from Ranger Rick! Both are always so much fun!

In June, Sparke students are sure to enjoy the Fun Fair on the 14th and our first graders who will be moving on to Stokes in the Fall, will be treated to an "Ice Cream Social" on the 19th! Magic Beyond Imagination will perform at Stokes on the 11th. Be sure to ask your child who they sawed in half! The "4th Grade Event" on June 7th is a fantastic year-end tradition and we say goodbye to our fourth graders, including our sons Matt Garcia and Sean Sidewitz at the Moving Up ceremony on June 18th!

A heartfelt thank you to every one of the committee chairs and volunteers who have truly made a difference this year. Our events would not be successful without your time and dedication. We are so appreciative of all you do! Please join us for dinner at our year-end PTA meeting on June 5th as we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation! We are also so grateful for the support of our principals, Dr. Fisher, Mrs. Newman and Mr. Harrington as well as the office staffs and custodians. We sincerely thank you for your continued support!

Success for the PTA means enriching your environment by linking families, schools and communities for the benefit of all children. We believe that when parents become involved, every child will succeed. This is especially true this year as we have combined the two schools PTAs. We are so thrilled to have received such tremendous support from the Island Trees families!

The next PTA meeting is on Wednesday, May 1st at 7:00 pm in the Stokes GPR. Guest Speakers Dr. Murphy will be presenting the propposed budget and Councilman Gary Hudes will join us to discuss his program "The Town of Hempstead and You". Please join us for this informative meeting. Babysitting will be provided.
