Welcome to the Michael F. Stokes PTA ! 

Dear Stokes Families,

Welcome back!  We hope you all had wonderful summer vacations.  On behalf of the M.F. Stokes PTA, we would like to welcome all our new parents to the school.  As always, our goal is to make our school years memorable for both our children and ourselves.

We will be kicking off the year with our Membership Drive.  Membership envelopes will be coming home with your child.  Success for PTA means enriching your environment by linking families, schools and communities for the benefit of all children.  We believe that when parents become involved, every child will succeed.

Just some of the events that you can look forward to during the upcoming year are our fall book sale, holiday gift fair, and our major fundraiser, the “BLITZ”, which is held in March.  The Cultural Arts Committee is busy scheduling great programs for our children.  These programs are given periodically throughout the school year.  The programs are both educational and fun.  The children have responded with great enthusiasm to these assemblies.  As you can see we have the beginnings of a great school year.

Only volunteers can make our PTA events successful.  We are very excited about working together with you.  Remember that the best test of a strong PTA is not where you start but where you end up.  So, please join us and bring a friend to share any thoughts and ideas you may have.  For new parents we have a “New Parent” meeting on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 6:30pm in the Stokes GPR.  Come meet our Board, get some information, and take a tour of our school.  Our first PTA meeting will be immediately following at 7:00pm.
