FIRST IN MATH
Our class is now registered on First in Math, a website based off of the game "24". The user name and password your child brought home on Friday 3/13 gives them access to the site until July 31, 2009, so they can practice their basic skills and even get ahead for next year (the site tackles fractions, integers, and even algebra). The site can be accessed from any computer, so encourage your child to use the program. The top five sticker holders as of 4/29/09 are:
1. Eden 2,751 2. Ben Sh. 2,657 3. Megan 1,239 4. Grant 1,186 5. Caley 1,175
*Keep up the good work*
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hearst Student Store Did you know that the Hearst Student Council now has their own store? It is located outside of Mr. Zarro's office during recess on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Items for sale (currently) are pencils, lead, paper, staplers, water etc. Items range in price from $0.25 to $3.00. More items will be for sale as time goes on. If you are interested, bring your change and get the supplies you need!
__________________________________________________________________ For your convenience, I provided links to the monthly class and school newsletters under "Classroom News" - just in case they didn't make it home this month. :) ____________________________________________________________
In the Classroom: -
Students are studying archetypal patterns in fiction text, and we are starting to draft our own fictional story with archetypal patterns and characters
-
In Math, we're practicing finding the LCM and GCF in preparation for FRACTIONS! Keep on that nightly homework!
Book Reports!! Don't forget that you have a book report due on the last day of every month. If you usually read Realistic Fiction, change it up this month and read a Poetry book or Nonfiction book for your book report. (See link below for the format.)
****THERE IS NO BOOK REPORT FOR APRIL - JUST THE INVENTION CONVENTION REPORT***
