6B Book Reviews by TitleQ-R-S Rescuing Sprite by Mark Levin Reviewed by: Nicolette D Rescuing Sprite is about a Spaniel Mix named Sprite. Mark and the rest of his family adopted him from a local Shelter. Sprite and the Levin’s other dog named Pepsi became great friends. But one day Sprite collapsed and they later found out that he had a tumor on the right side of his face. They eventually had to put him to sleep so he wouldn’t suffer. He brought them joy and love and they later adopted I think that this book was one of the best books I had ever read by far because Mark R. Levin is talking about his dog Sprite and how he changed his life, even though it was heartbreaking to lose Sprite Revenge of the Wannabes by Lisi Harrison Reviewed by: Bailey C Revenge of the Wannabes is about a clique of four girls named Massie, Kristen, Dylan, and Alicia. They are the total wannabes of their school, OCD ( This book, to me, was very interesting because of the conflict between girls around my age and about every day things. The author was trying to tell girls in middle school and high school that you do not have to hang out with the coolest kids in the school just as long as you are with people you like and can get along with. Also that no matter what your interest are or what you look like you and your friends will always be the “cool kids” of what your clique has in common. Even if it is as simple as you all enjoy in to dancing, it still makes you who you are. I would recommend this book for girls over 12, but before you read this book I suggest reading The Clique and Best Friends for Never first so that way you understand what the story line is and get more of an idea of who the characters are. If you like the first three books of this series look for other clique novels by Lisi Harrison. Revenge of the Wannabes by Lisi Harrison Reviewed by: Mackenzie D This book is realistic fiction and is about 5 girls that are friends (Massie, Dylan, Kristen, Claire, and Alicia) that come from rich families and live right near I could not put down this book! I recommend this book for ages 12 and up because there are some girl-on-girl conflicts. This book shows teenage girls how to not get sucked in by the “bad girls”. This book has a lot of comedy by Massie that I loved. I suggest that you start with the beginning book, “The Clique” and work your way up the series. This book is kind of like real life for some people. I hope you like the book! Reviewed by: Niko M This book, I thought this book was one of the best books I have read. It was very scary at some parts. Silverfin by Charlie Higson Reviewed by: Andrew W The book that I read was very good and interesting. Its title is called Silverfin and it is packed with action. This book is about twelve year old James bond and his new friend, Red; trying to stop the mad scientist named Lord Hellebore. Lord Hellebore is trying to make a super army using artificial growth hormones. (These are illegal). He also knew his experiment would work because he has already tested it on small eels and turned them into huge monsters. While he is trying to make his super army, James and Red try to stop him from hurting, killing, or mutating animals or humans. (Therefore using them to take over the world). When I was reading this book I could not stop reading it because each part was suspenseful. It was so good that I probably finished it in a third of time, than if I was reading a different book. I would strongly recommend that people who like action books, READ THIS BOOK! This book is a little hard so it is for early teens. Also it has close to three hundred pages. Look for the second book in the series called Blood Fever. Will the two boys defeat Lord Hellebore? Or will Lord Hellebore concur them, build a super army, and take over the world? Read it to find out. Skeleton Key by Anthony Horowitz Reviewed by: Alex S This book is another great edition to the Alex Rider series. This book is a fiction/ mystery it’s a Spy Novel. In this book is an Alex Rider (a teen -age spy) gets sent to Skeleton Key, a remote island. Alex has his usual “huge” adventure, almost gets killed and eventually saves the world. A brief description of this book would be very adventurous, funny and full of action. I think the authors theme is very absorbing. This book meant a lot to me on the fact that my name is also Alex. I recommend this book to readers who like spy novels and mysteries . Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen Reviewed by: Malorie C In the book someone like you Haley and Scarlett are best friends. Going through teenage problems in high school and helping each other through them. Haley is usually the one who is having all the problems and Scarlett is usually the one who is always giving her advice. But now Scarlett needs Haley’s help. Scarlett had a boy friend over the summer, Michael Sherwood and she thought he was the right one for her. A few weeks later Michael got into a motorcycle accident and didn’t survive. It was very dramatic for the last few months but Scarlett started to move on. About a month later Scarlett found out she was carrying Michael’s baby. Now Haley has to help Scarlett through all the steps of having a baby. On the other hand Haley has a new boyfriend and her mom and dad doesn’t seem to like him. But Haley doesn’t care she is madly in love with him. This book is really inspiring. Because it’s all about making choices and knowing that if you make the wrong choice you are going to receive the consequences. I agree with the author’s message because its very meaningful and you can really learn something by this book. This book kind of did change my life because I will probably need this advice when I am older and I will remember this for the rest of my life. I recommend this book because it gives you an awesome message that sometimes what you think is a mistake really isn’t it’s a great thing and can make a big change in your life. I recommend this book to people who are in middle school and high school. Life is all about making choices and yes you are going to make bad and good choices but either way you will learn from them. Someone Was Watching by David Pat Neaude Reviewed by: Dzembo L In this book, Someone Was Watching, you will be amazed on all the action and stress the main character went through. His name is Chris and one day when his whole family wanted to go to the beach to have some fun a terrible thing happened. When a mother and father take there eyes off of their little girl she might just be killed. They all looked for her all day and all they found was her was her coloring book by the end of the deck going into the water. They family paid divers to look for Molly in the ocean but nothing was found. Right then Chris thought maybe she really was alive. Chris and his friend Pat set off and looked for Molly. (Molly is Chris’s little sister) When I read this book I was not able to put it down even for a little while. I was always wishing the time would go by faster so I could get to reading. This book has a little bit of comedy, some scary parts, and a lot of adventure. I think the message that the author is trying to teach the reader is never give. If you believe in something keep at it until you have all the facts so what you think can not possibly be true. She is also trying to get you not to only listen to one person then give up on everything that you really think is true. When I was finished with this book I really understood the author’s message. After I was done with this book I never only listened to one person then gave up on all the things I thought was true. I waited until I had facts that proved my thought wrong. Stuck in Neutral by Terry Trueman Reviewed by: Matthew E This book is about a kid named Shawn McDaniel and he thinks that his father is planning to kill him. But he is not a normal kid he has severe cerebral palsy. Which is a disease.Shawn can not move, eat, drink or talk. All he can do is listen to people or think. He can almost remember every thing he hears. I think it is a pretty wild experience. Unless you don’t like to hear about sad things. But if you are a reader that likes to explore books, this is might be a book you want to read. What crazy stuff will happen in Stuck in Neutral? Read to see what will happen! In my opinion this book was great and I recommend this book 100 percent. So if you like to read weird scary/ sad books. This is a book for you. So I hope you read this book! Swindle by Gordan Corman Reviewed by: Anthony A A boy named Ben and his friends had a sleepover at some old house that the owner has died in. Ben finds a baseball card with Babe Ruth as a Yankee in a Red sox uniform on it from a cereal box. He gets his friends to look at the card and he said it wasn’t worth any money. His friends thought it was worth a lot of money. The next day Ben and one of his friends went to a place where there are a lot of collections that are worth a lot of money. A person named S.Windle Palmino (nicknamed Swindle) tricked Ben and his friend of buying the card for $120 when it is worth $1,000,000. He tells them after he puts it in the safe. He said he was going to auction it off in a few weeks. Could Ben and his friend get the card back and if so how? I think the book Swindle by Gordon Korman was a very interesting and it had some adventures at the end of the book when Ben tries to get the card back. I agree with the author’s theme of trying to get back of what a person tricked out of you. If I was Ben, I would do the same thing of trying to get the card back. Swindle meant to me that I would wish this book was the first book in a series. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes interesting and a book that has adventures in it. I would also recommend this book to and baseball fan. Swindle by Gordan Corman Reviewed by: Keenan K This book was interesting to a certain extent because I like adventure books, and this book had a lot of adventures. Such as, Griffin and Ben were in the building and it was about to collapse they had to run for their lives, or they would be plummeted to the ground. while their parents thought that they were at a friend’s house sleeping. I think that the theme that the author was pointing out is that if you go into something all perky, you might realize that you are really a chicken. That you shouldn’t be like that. Real brave people are the ones who actually do scary things like steal your stolen Babe Ruth baseball card back. When I read this book I felt pain when Griffin felt pain because of his family’s misfortunes. But I also felt excitement when Griffin, Ben and many others tried to get the baseball card back. Does he get swindled out of the one million dollars? Will he save his family’s fortune? READ the book! If I had to recommend this book to another person I most certainly would. This book was very interesting Swindle by Gordan Korman Reviewed by: Thomas R The book Swindle is about a boy named Griffin Bing who plans a sleep over at a deserted house that is going to be torn down. When he gets up to walk around he finds a dresser and there is a baseball card and it is a Babe Ruth card. He thinks it is valuable so he took it to the Palomino emporium and the owner says it is not valuable but it is worth about 90 dollars. When he gets home and he turned on the TV and sees the owner of the shop on TV saying that he found a valuable Babe Ruth card and it is worth millions of dollars. He went back to the shop and said that is my card so he says that it is not his but it really is. So one night they planned to go in the shop and get it back. But they run into a problem there is a high tech security system, after going through all that it was not in there. So they figured that it would be in his house. So they made a team and you will have to read the book to find out. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read a good book. It made you not want to keep reading and not put it down. It is realistic fiction but you really don’t won’t to put it down.
