Welcome to First Grade!  My Language Arts class will be having a vocabulary quiz on Monday, Nov. 23rd over all of the words in the second reader. You can find all of them on the Language Arts Resources page under Unit 3. Please review all words with your child this week. Thank you. My homeroom class is bringing home a teepee book report tonight, Monday. This is something they will be doing at home with any book that they choose. Please have them complete the book report and return it to school by Monday, November 23rd. Thank you for your help. Our class is reciting a finger play at our Christmas program on December 3rd. We need your help at home! If you check the Classroom News link, you will find our fingerplay. We have to memorize this. If you get some extra time, practice this with your child. We'll be working on it at school too, so don't worry if you don't get to it! I just thought any extra help would be helpful! Thank you! What we're learning the week of November 16th: This week in Language Arts, we will have 10 new spelling and 8 new vocabulary words. We are also learning the sound of sh in words such as ship and wish. Our story this week is a non-fiction story called Fun With Fish. There is NO Accelerated Reader quiz for this story. In Math, we will Chapter 12 , Number Patterns. You can work on this at home by having your child skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s with you. We will also continue working with addition concepts in Math. Students will be taking their fours timed test this week. There will be a timed test on Wednesday, and again on Friday for those who do not pass the first test. Keep studying flash cards at home! Our timed tests have 20 problems, and the students have 80 seconds to complete the problems. We will work the letters Rr, Nn, Mm, and Hh in printing.
