Michael S. Mahoney A St. Francis alum from a family of educators and artists (we've been part of the St. Francis community since 1969), I have taught English and history for two decades now. In the eighties, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Woodberry Forest School in Virginia and then earned a B.A. in English from The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. During my junior year, I studied in England at the University of Manchester. An interest in the Northern Ireland Troubles brought me back across the water on many occasions, and during a sabbatical from Louisville Collegiate, I completed a masters in Irish Studies at Queen’s University Belfast. Before joining the St. Francis faculty, I also taught composition at the University of Louisville and served as museum educator for The Portland Museum and The Filson Historical Society. At St. Francis I currently serve as chair of the Language Arts & Social Studies Department, teach 7th grade LA/SS, and coach the varsity and junior soccer teams.
