Welcome Second Graders and Parents School Days Begin 2009-2010

It's school time again.  I hope you had a wonderful summer.  We recently returned from a 3 week vacation in Europe.  I had a chance to rest up from that adventure and now  I am excited to begin this school year.

I have been preparing my room and my mind for the upcoming school year.  I started my teaching career 29 years ago.  I began at second grade and stayed for 7 years.  I took a year off when my daughter, Jessica, was born. (She is now a pharmacy graduate student)  When I returned, I enjoyed teaching 8 years in third grade.  I was then moved to first grade for 11 years.  I returned to second and hope to stay put until I retire someday!!

There has been a plethora of changes in education since I started my career in teaching, especially in the area of technology.  The Smart Board is a tool that will hopefully engage and motivate your child.  In addition, various computer programs are available to reinforce and practice skills learned in the classroom.

Please feel free to stop by before or after school  to visit  me and check out the room that your child will be spending their second grade year in.
