Make-up Work Policy

Fifth Grade Team

Holly Hall Elementary School

While it is understood that students may occasionally need to miss a day, or days, of school due to illness or for family reasons, it is important that work missed during these occurrences be made up soon after the student returns to class.  The following is the make-up work policy for the fifth grade at Holly Hall Elementary School.

1.   It is the student’s responsibility to make up any work missed during an absence.

2.   Students will have two (2) school days to complete missed work, which will be provided to them the day they return.

3.   Missed tests and quizzes will be taken within two (2) days of the student’s return unless the student has missed significant instructional time, in which case the student will take the missed assessment(s) following the necessary instruction.  If the student misses a class designated as review for a test or quiz, the student will be expected to take the assessment within two (2) days of returning to class.

4.   Students who are out of school for an extended period of time may be exempted from part or all of the daily work they miss.  However, they will be required to make up all projects, quizzes, and tests.  The time the student has to complete these items will be set by the teacher and communicated to both the student and his/her parents.

5.   A grade of 50% E will be recorded for any work that is required to be made up, but which is not made up by the student.
