Evolution Evolution

Modern Biology Chapters 15 - 17.

The Big Questions:

  • How did organisms get to be what they are today?
  • How does genetics contribute to changing species?
  • How does the environment "select" which individuals are successful?

Also: How does Biological Classification (Taxonomy) relate to evolution?  In other words, once we change an organism what do we call it?

Download powerpoints, study guide, etc. below.

Try the "Evolution 101" link for a review - don't get too bogged down in all the phylogenies (you don't need the details of clades).

"Natural selection tutor" lets you work through simulations of how a population would change as various characteristics change.  "Modes of Selection" is probably most useful to you.
