Sciencesaurus- New Science Handbook Sciencesaurus- New Science Handbook

A message to parents of third through eighth graders:

The science department is excited to announce our use of a new user-friendly resource that your children can turn to whenever they have questions related to science.  It is the ScienceSaurus: A Student Handbook. Recommended by the National Science Teachers Association, it “includes a handy almanac with tables, charts and graphs, test-taking and researching strategies, a science time line and glossary, links to kid-friendly NSTA internet resources and more.”

This year, each science room has a classroom set of these books.  The beauty of these handbooks is that students can use one edition for 3 years from grades 3 to5 and another version for 3 years from grades 6 to 8.  Each book costs around $25 depending on whether it is hardbound, softbound, used or new.

While completely optional, we encourage you to consider purchasing a handbook for your student to keep at home.  The ScienceSaurus handbook is bright, colorful and filled with fascinating graphics, that we think both you and your child will enjoy reading at home. You can purchase this book used or new on-line from Amazon or any bookseller of choice. Below are the ISBN numbers to facilitate easy ordering:

Grades 3 to 5: 13:978-0-669-51014-0 hardcover

                       13:978-0-669-51015-7 soft cover

Grades 6 to 8: 13:978-0-669-52915-9 hardcover

                      13:978-0-669-52916-6 soft cover

Sincerely,

Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Holloway and Mrs. Koloff
