Where does the name come from?? B.E. (Ms. Brown and Ms. Emerson.. get it???) in the Moment International Travel. Mrs. Emerson and I initially started this program because we wanted to fill a need that we saw within our classrooms. In our digital age, it is becoming increasingly important to create globally minded students to prepare them for the real world. We feel that international travel will not only increase the students understanding of the world and their place in it, but it will also provide invaluable life experiences that will help them for years to come. We decided to embark on our first international trip over Spring Break 2011, during which we went to Rome, Sorrento, Pompei, and Capri.
The week we spent in Italy with the students not only changed their lives, but our own. We were thrilled with the growth we saw the students experience during our week abroad. Seeing them mature and appreciate a different culture while embracing the challenges that arose along the way, verified that this would be just the first of many adventures we would have with our students to learn about other cultures, and more importantly, about themselves. They came back more mature, more appreciative, and more cultured. All of these are things that could take a lifetime to learn, and we feel fortunate to be a part of their journey.
We already have our next trip planned for Greece during summer 2012 and are enrolling new travelers. Please see the subpages along the side to decide if this type of travel is right for you and/or your child and contact Mrs. Brown with any questions.
