PhilosophyMission StatementThe mission of the school counselors at Lakeside High School is to provide a comprehensive, developmentally age-appropriate and sequential school counseling program that is aligned with the ASCA national standards for school counseling programs. The program will focus on the needs, interests and issues related to the stages of student growth through academic, career and personal/social development. In partnership with students, staff, family, community and workforce, we will prepare students to become effective learners, achieve success in school, live successful and rewarding lives, and develop into contributing members of our society. VisionThe vision of the school counselor at Lakeside High School is that students will have acquired the knowledge, skills and attitudes to reach their fullest potential and successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, competent and productive citizens who respect themselves and others.
PhilosophyThe Lakeside High School Counseling Department believes: Achievement is possible for every student and all students can succeed with proper support. All students learn in their own unique way, therefore it is the counselor's responsibility to treat students as individuals. All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program. All students at Lakeside High School will have access to a full-time, state certified, masters-degree-level school counselor to deliver the counseling program. The role of the counselor is to aid parents/guardians, staff and community members to ensure the success of all students.
