I have the good fortune of having several particular resources for specific purposes that I use most often and hold in high regard.  Links are in blue (amazon.com is in burgandy), so just click them to go to the particular site. The books are listed on my booklist in more depth.

  1. The Artist's Handbook of Materials and Techniques by Ralph Mayer.....The Viking Press Publishers, New York
  2. Careers in Art  An Illustrated Guide By Gerald F. Brommer and Joseph A. Gatto.....Wyatt Wade, Davis Publications, Inc.  Worcester, Massachusetts U.S.A.
  3. Traditional Oil Painting Advanced Techniques and Concepts from the Renaissance to the Present  by Virgil Elliott.....Atelier of Virgil Elliott  Amazon.comWatson-Guptill Publications/New York
  4. Dick Blick Art Materials Dick Blick Art Supplies @ DickBlick.com....I find the most efficient and exellent service with this company.  You can call them 24 hours a day @ 1.800.447.8192
  5. Jerry's Artarama Art Materials Jerry's Artarama
@ JerrysArtarama.com or 1.800.U.ARTIST....I find this source to be the best on price but the service is lacking.
  6. Graphic Dimensions Ltd. Graphic Dimensions Ltd.
@www.pictureframes.com os a great source for framing.  Make sure you pay attention to ordering methods.  My students most often need the frames that are offered in pairs (so you buy one pair of the width and one pair of the length.  Their paintings should never be glass covered but the non-glare glass or plexiglass package with backing is recommended for drawings.
  7. Materials can always be found at Art Mart Art Mart (on south Hanley), Michael's Michael's (in Gravois Bluffs & on S. Lindbergh, South County), Dick Blick Dick Blick Art Supplies (in Clayton on Hanley), Hobby Lobby Hobby Lobby (Kirkwood Rd.), Shaeffer's (jewelry supplies as well on Gravois just north of Lindbergh), and Krueger Pottery Krueger Pottery (Big Bend, Webster Groves).  College book stores also carry supplies and are open to the general public.
