Dear Senior Project Team:

I intend to do my Senior Project on _________________. To complete the research for this project, I will use the public library, school library, internet, books, magazines, journals, as well as my own personal experience in this field, supplemented with interviews. I will relate my topic to the economic conditions and/or discuss the economic impact on Oakland, and the business and entrepreneurial implications for my neighborhood or Oakland. A presentation of my findings will be presented in a PowerPoint (not to exceed 10 minutes).

I understand the use of someone else’s work without giving him/her credit is plagiarism and it is an unlawful to claim someone else’s work as my own.  I will use original thoughts supplemented with the use other people’s ideas/facts and give them credit by utilizing footnotes.  I also understand that if I use someone else’s work without acknowledging their work, the chief consequence will be a failing grade.  Failing my senior project is detrimental and means that I did not complete one of the Oakland Public School District’s graduation requirement which means I will not graduate. Therefore, I will do the best I can with the knowledge I acquire through my research,

Finally, I pledge to seek help from my teachers, parents, peers, mentors, and others who support me.  I will not wait until the last minute, but will adhere to the timeline established by the committee.  I will be prepared for the PowerPoint presentation on time and promise to practice before hand and make a professional showing. My senior portfolio will include the following: resume, personal statement(s), Letter of Intent, Sign-off by Senior Project Committee, bibliography cards, note cards, rough draft, final draft, copies of internet sources, and other materials I deem important to my senior year (college and scholarship acceptance letters, just to list a few).  I will do this the “BEST way.

Sincerely,

Your name
