About this Instructor:
Whatever you have heard about my course, requirements, and teaching methods from previous students is probably true. I believe that all meaningful learning is an active and interactive process. I believe in individualizing instruction through student conferencing. I believe in doing it over until you get it right. All major essays will undergo multiple revisions. At every juncture, individual conferencing with me and the process of revision of writing is an integral requisite for this course. What you heard about me is true: I “volunteer” my AP students to become AP Ambassadors, Service Learning tutors, and to take on key school and community leadership roles. I will encourage you to enter your polished writing in local writing contests and more! I am fairly relentless about scholarship essays since I am also your school’s Scholarship Coordinator. I unequivocally require that your college admission and scholarship essays be written in class. Expect AP timed writings without warning. I am available for Saturday and after school office hours and require that you meet with me for individual conferencing and participate in group study sessions. If you took English Language and Composition last year, you already know all of this. If not, welcome to AP English Literature and Composition!
