Author Biography and Geographical/ Literature Search Assignment In addition to reading and book critique

At the beginning of this class you were given an assignment by your instructor Ms. Rhynes to read a book of your choice.

 In addition to your reading assignment you will write a (2) two page essay. An integral part of this essay requires you to research the author’s literary and cultural

 background. Examine the factual geographical information related to the city, state, and region in which the author or the book you read resides or resided.

 For example: if you are reading A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry or the

Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, search the internet, encyclopedia britannica or other reference books to:

·        Learn where the author was born

·        give a short history about him/her

·        write a geographical description of facts concerning population, capitol of their state, economic productivity include natural resources (what does the region grow/produce)

·         and include import or export information about the location.

Assignment Notes

1. Two (2) page double spaced typed essay drafts due on September 30^th.
2. Book Title, Author an Introduction, and a conclusion.
3. Geographical information (Where Born, City State, Region. Imports, Exports Population.
4. Give a 3 minute Oral Report Starting October 2^nd.
