| Social Studies – We started the year learning critical thinking and questioning skills. We spent valuable time learning about each other by creating and sharing primary source boxes. I learned that my students are amazing, and I can hardly wait to dive into new and exciting skills. Our current unit covers map and basic geography skills. The students are working in small groups to apply what they are learning in a variety of manners. Click "My Resources" and "Geography" for activities to support our unit. Language Arts – In our language arts class, we just finished presenting our summer reading projects. My students have read a variety of books, and have done an outstanding job sharing their books. They have also evaluated the books presented by others and now have a list of books they wish to read throughout the upcoming year. We are now starting a unit on poetry. Be sure to ask your child about the poetry which we are studying. Also, we are reading aloud the book “Something to Sing About” by C.C. Payne. This amazing author will be coming to BMCMS soon to make a presentation to our students. We are all very excited about this visit.

Contenders’ T-Shirts - Team t-shirts are $10 each. Please send in t-shirt money right away if possible. We would like all students to have a team shirt. Renaissance Fundraiser – Please send in your order forms immediately. Payments do not need to be collected until the orders are delivered. If you wish to send them in with your order forms, you may do so. Checks should be made to BMCMS. No School – September 6 - Labor Day Our kids are GREAT!!!
