Mr. Bell's Rap Sheet! I have a B.A.Ed degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma and a M.A.Ed degree from the University of Tulsa. I started teaching my senior year in college at Mountain View, OK. In 1968 I joined the US Navy. I served two tours of duty in Viet Nam and received my discharge in 1972. I resumed my teaching career in Muskogee, OK where I served as the Junior High Band Director at Alice Robertson Junior High. After 4 years at Muskogee I became the Junior High Band Director at Tulsa Union Junior High. After 4 years at Union JH I accepted the job as head director at Union High School. The Union Band won the 1st OBA Marching Championship as well as 1st place at the BOA Regional Marching Championship in Commerce, TX and placed 7th at the BOA Grand Nationals in Whitewater, WI. After 2 years at Union and 3 years at Bixby High School I returned to my hometown of Woodward where I served as High School Band Director for 11 years from 1985-1996. During that time the Woodward Boomer Band won the OBA Class 3A Marching Championship 7 times. In 1996 I started teaching in Texas. In addition to White Deer I have also taught at Hale Center, Anton, Sunray, and Dalhart. I have been married for 44 years to my wife Karen who is a retired elementary music teacher who now serves as a Stephen Ministry Leader at the First United Methodist Church in Woodward. Our daughter Kimberly lives in Tulsa with her husband Todd and our grandchild Owen. Kimberly and Todd were both members of my Woodward Band and attend Southwestern where they played in the Southwestern Band, Kimberly on Horn and Todd on Trombone. They both are in the Asbury Methodist Church Orchestra and Todd gives trombone lessons to 7th and 8th grade students in the Owasso, OK. band. This is my fourth year at White Deer. The Buck Band received their first UIL Sweepstakes Award since 1993 in 2007-08. The Band has received Superior Ratings the last 3 years in Sightreading.
