Karen Hopkins
KAREN HOPKINS, Fours Lead Teacher and Threes Assistant Karen graduated as a Bronze Tablet Scholar from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She worked for nine years in the elementary school system in Illinois, teaching first and second grade. After taking a hiatus from teaching to be home with her two daughters, Karen eventually reentered the workforce as a substitute teacher at her children’s preschool. As the years passed and her children grew older, Karen found she was still very interested in the education of the preschool-aged child and has remained in the field ever since. In 2003, she obtained a Child Development Associate credential from the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C. In addition to teaching, Karen writes for children’s magazines. She has had over 30 of her articles, stories and poems published in various periodicals including, Hopscotch for Girls, Highlights for Children and Ladybug.
