Classroom Rules and Expectations

Classroom Rules and Expectations

All Middle School and District handbook Rules will be enforced!

The following rules will be enforced and expected of each student in Mrs. Peters' Social Studies Classroom:

  • ABSOLUTELY no gum or candy!
  • Raise your hand when you wish to ask a question, add insight, or a comment.
  • Speak with respect!
  • No bullying!
  • No switching or moving out of assigned seat.
  • Do not take any materials from Mrs. Peters' desk or that of your peers.
  • All homework will be done on time - Students will be held during Academic Flex to complete incomplete assignments and points will be deducted (if the work was a graded piece).
  • Materials need to be brought to class daily.  Students will not be allowed to return to their locker.
  • No talking during instruction, unless you are assigned a group/partner activity.
  • All work must come from student - no plagiarism or copying!

If a student fails to follow the classroom rules:

  1. A self-reflection sheet will be completed and a conference will be held with the student regarding the behavior.
  2. If a student continues to disrupt classroom instruction, a second self-reflection sheet will be completed, a conference will be held with the student and parents/guardians will be contacted.
  3. If the student continues to disrupt or fail to follow the rules, a parent/teacher meeting will be held.  Please know that Team Lynx teachers work hard to support our students. Because we work as a team, all team teachers will be present at any parent/teacher meeting that is conducted.  We want to be able to form a partnership with you and establish a plan to help the student succeed.

My expectation is that all students will learn to become socially responsible individuals and respect the learning environment.  My hope is that all students work together to create a safe and secure room in which we can focus on America's history and the stories that America has to offer them.
