Snow Days or Delays

If it is necessary for school to delay or close due to severe weather conditions, information will be announced on local television and radio stations. Typically, when it is necessary for the Greater Amsterdam School District to delay or close, SMI will delay or close, too. If school is delayed one hour or more, early childhood and part-time pre-kindergarten will not be in session.

March is National Nutrition Month

In March, the American Dietetic Association celebrates "National Nutrition Month."  First Lady Michelle Obama has launched a campaign called "Let's Move" to improve the health and well-being of our nation's youth.  The campaign builds on effective strategies for nutrition and exercise.  Mrs. Obama has begun a national conversation about the health of America's children when she and students from our nation's capital broke ground on the White House Kitchen Garden.  Through this garden, she began a discussion with kids about proper nutrition and the role food plays in living a healthy life.  That discussion has now grown into the "Let's Move" campaign.  So get moving and make healthy food choices!
