WordMasters WordMasters is a national vocabulary/analogy-solving contest. Students in third and fourth grade classes throughout the district have the opportunity to participate in the WordMasters Challenge this year, either with their whole class or for small group or individual enrichment. Challenge meets take place in December, February, and April. To do well, students have to not only understand the meanings of the words, but also be able to reason carefully about the relationships shown in the analogy pairs. Word lists, practice analogy tests, and tips for teachers can be downloaded below. The demonstration analogies use common vocabulary and are appropriate for any grade level. They're great for teaching the types of analytical thinking favored by WordMasters. Answer keys are included. Please look over the material, make copies as desired, then email st_radack@smfcsd.org with the names of students who will be participating this year.
