The New York State Staff Development Council is the New York affiliate of National Staff Development Council (NSDC). As a professional non-profit association, we are committed to ensuring success for all students through staff development and school improvement. We view high quality staff development programs as essential to creating schools in which all students and staff members are learners who continually improve their performance.

What We Believe

  • NSDC standards define high quality professional learning.
  • Every school employee deserves high quality professional learning.
  • All educators have the responsibility to learn in order to improve student learning.
  • State and local policy leaders emphasize importance of professional learning.
  • Professional learning is evaluated on the impact to change instruction and improve student achievement.
  • Effective leaders model high quality professional learning
  • Teacher and administrator isolation must be reduced.
