All About Mrs. Hughes

Hello friends, and welcome to our classroom website.  My name is Kristen Hughes and I am a second grade teacher at Aquidneck Elementary School in Middletown, Rhode Island.  I graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems.  I returned to school after graduation to obtain my Early Childhood Education certification and I am currently certified to teach grades PK - 6.  In May of 2004, I completed my master's degree in Literacy (Grades K-12) which I also received at Roger Williams University.

This Website:

I have always wanted to create a website for interaction between students, parents, and collegues.  I am delighted to have created this website as a place where I can now communicate with my students' parents online so that they can see what is going on in our classroom.  I also wanted to use information that I had gained in my undergraduate degree in Computer Information Systems to use by forming  this site.  I am constantly updating it so check back often.  I am excited to share this website with you, be sure to use each of the links on the left to browse and find out more.

Some Interesting Things:

When I am not at school in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.  I am happily married and have been for eight years.  My husband, James (Jamie) and I have two sons, Cole and Shaun, and a dog, Guinness.  Guinness is now 9 years old and is an Australian Shepard and Harrier mix.  He often reminds me of the hound dog in Fox and the Hound. 

  Hobbies:

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, working on this website, taking a walk with Mr. Hughes, Cole, Shaun, and Guinness, gardening, and reading.

Favorite Flowers:

I love all flowers!  If I had to choose though I would say Tulips, Hydrangeas, and Lily's.

Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, and the list goes on and on...
