Educational Games

A variety of educational games are being funded and developed by numerous organizations including the Federation of American Scientists (FAS), several universities, non-profit organizations and the gaming industry.  I'll be collecting links to some of the games of the highest educational value

Immune Attack:  an shoot-em up educational video game that introduces basic concepts of human immunology.  Produced by the Federation of American Scientists and available as a free download.

Re-Mission:  an shoot-em up educational video game that introduces the concepts of cancer treatment. Produced by HopeLab and available as a free download.

Spore:  a commercial game that has recently been released.  This game puts you in control of a single-celled and multicellulared organisms of increasing complexity as they compete to survive and conquer larger and larger territories.

Mars Exploration Fun Zone: This NASA webpage provides links to a variety of activities including a 3-D Mars Rover game.

Energyville: An interactive game that puts you in charge of meeting the energy needs of a city or around 3.9 million people.

ElectroCity: This online game is similar to Energyville.  It puts you in control of the design of your own city with an emphasis on energy use.

PowerUp:  Save the city Helios from ecological destruction in this downloadable game created by IBM.

Whyville:  Whyville is a virtual world for younger budding scientists

Dual N-Back Game:  Can a game improve your memory and intelligence?  That's what scientists have found out using this memory game.  You'll have to download it from here.
