T.G.I.Fridays Fundraiser will be on Monday. This is a fundraiser supporting Gino. If you take a copy of the attached flyer, 20% will be donated to his family.

****Please make sure your child has a good breakfast in the morning. Many of them are coming to school with stomach aches and have no snack.

***We will be taking the COGAT test next week Monday through Thursday mornings. This test is a cognitive achievement test and measures cognitive ability. There is no way we can study for this test but you can  make sure your child has plenty of good rest and a healthy breakfast with protein. Our brains need to be awake and sharp! 

HOMEWORK:

I will be sending home homework each day. Please look in your child’s planner for the assignment. Some of the homework will be from the Buckle Down Math and Reading workbooks. These need to be returned each day with the planner and orange take home folders. We will also be using these in class.

News for next week:

Along with our regular activities, we will be incorporating the Valentine them in many of our papers.

Reading: 

·        There will be no specific story next week. We will be working in our Buckle Down workbooks for Reading and catching up on current events (Time For Kids)

·        Skills we will be working on with the summarizing important information in a text.

·        Vocabulary words: none

Spelling words: no words this week.

MATH: We will be starting our unit on Multiplication next week. As part of this instruction, we will be making the 3-sided triangle flashcards to practice and learn our multiplication facts. A quiz will be given on Friday over the facts we have practiced during the week.

*Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts for memory/ speed. 

Concepts we will be working on will be:

Ø Naming things that come in groups

Ø Writing groups as multiplication

Ø Solving mult. equations

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We will begin to create our Third Grade Chocolate Company from the bottom up. We will discuss necessary vocabulary and decide what we will be producing on candy making day! We will also review ‘goods’ and
