Mission Statement

The mission of Millard PTA is to support the Millard school community (students, parents and staff) in achieving academic success for our children; to promote their physical, social and emotional wellbeing; to raise funds in support of instructional and character building programs; to promote a partnership of involvement and to have fun in the process.

President's Vision

Millard PTA will become an example of excellence in creating partnerships which have a highly successful impact on Millard students’ academic success and character development while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

2009 – 2010 Millard PTA Goals

  1.  Use 2008 – 2009 surveys to evaluate programs for continuation, change or elimination; then recruit the necessary volunteers to carry-out these programs. Reduce the burden on a small number of volunteers through this recruitment.
  2. Establish an academic resource team of teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and make available additional resources to assist parents of struggling students who do not meet the criteria for SST*/IEP** intervention.
  3. Form a partnership of parents, teachers, and administrators for the selection and evaluation of school assembly programs. Increase parent/teacher awareness of assembly objectives and presentation methods before assemblies.
  4. Raise and administer the necessary funds to carry-out member approved programs for the school year. Promote clarity regarding Millard PTA’s role in complete school fundraising efforts.

*SST – Student Study Team – Consists of parent, teacher, resource specialist, (usually) psychologist, and principal.  This is first steps to identify a student having difficulty in the classroom.  Goals are set; classroom/teacher/and student adaptations are made and reviewed periodically.

**IEP – Individualized Education Program - This is usually set up after student has been tested by psychologist and resource specialist.  They are qualified for help outside of the classroom (during the school day) and have an IEP.  Again this is reviewed at least yearly
