Monthly News from Ms. Frank's Class
December
December turned ino a very busy month. We were eagerly anticipating the coming of Christmas and celebrating the birth of Jesus. It gave us time to think of the great gift that God had sent to us, His Son, Jesus. Watching our first grade buddies perform in their Christmas play brought back memories to the fourth graders to when they were in first grade.
The fourth graders, also, had the opportunity to have their class mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The children took part in the readings and procession. Some students led us in the responsorial psalms. We were happy to have parents and grandparents return to class to visit with us and have refreshments.
Reading Christmas stories to our first grade buddies was fun. Both classes enjoyed reading and hearing "old time" favorites. Some of the first graders were able to read stories to the fourth graders.
Reading/ELA
What would you do if you heard that Santa was stuck in a chimney? The fourth graders had to solve that problem and write about it. We then read these stories to our classmates. Personality, voice and humor came out as the storieswere read. Very interesting ideas and very funny.
October
There were many astonished children in 4F as the month of October began. They had completed almost four weeks of school! They had challanged Mrs. Laniok's sixth grade in the Marathon and couldn't wait to circle North Ponds Park . As usual the best part of the day was eating hot dogs at 9:00a.m. We are eagerly awaiting the results of the Marathon.
Reading
We have continued our Journey selections by reading Grandfather's Journey. This story tells about a young Japenese man, who comes to the United States to visit in the early 1900's. This is a great time to talk to grandparents about their childhood and family traditions.
If you are visiting in school stop by our classroom and see the wonderful poems that the students wrote about leaves and fall.
