My goal is to create an active learning environment in our classes. To achieve this objective, I will use the following methodology:

  • Presentation of new concepts.
  • Explanation of techniques and methods.
  • Classwork.
  • Review of important topics covered.
  • Cooperative learning groups.
  • Peer instruction.
  • Daily homework.
  • Question and answer sessions.
  • Integration of technology.

Additionally, extra work will be provided for those students who show weakness in specific areas and are willing to put extra effort in overcoming those deficiencies.

Subscribing to the philosophy of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and its Mathematics Department, I believe that in order to effectively teach a student how to learn mathematics, the student must first learn to love, appreciate and respect mathematics. It is necessary to consider individual differences among students and strive to offer a diversified college preparatory program which will meet the needs and interests and also be consistent with the abilities of all students. I also assume my part in the development of future leaders by emphasizing the importance of quantitative analysis of data in forecasting and decision-making.
