Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school!  I am beginning my fourteenth year at St. Francis with excitement and anticipation.  I welcome those of you that are new to my class and I look forward to reconnecting with those of you that are already part of my world.  I will be teaching five grade levels of math and will be a fifth grade lead.  My fifth graders will meet with me each morning and afternoon in the area next to Mr. Digan's.

The homework for all five of my classes will be posted in three different areas:  on my website, on the front classroom board, which the students copy into their planners, and on the appropriate grade level calendars in my classroom.  With all of these options, there should be one that works well with your child.

Your child needs to come to class prepared on a daily basis.  He or she needs to bring their text (grades 5-8), 2 sharp pencils (no mechanical pencils allowed), a notebook and their folder for keeping papers.  Homework is due at the beginning of each class period.  Tests and quizzes, projects and class participation are all considered part of the assessment process.

In addition to mathematical skills and concepts, I concentrate on building self confidence and independence.  Organizational skills and time management are other areas of focus.  These are all key components to helping your child progress and grow as an individual.  I work with each child to achieve his or her highest level of success.

I am excited to work with your children over these next few months.  It is a privilege to be considered an integral part of their growth and development.  They never fail to motivate me or inspire me.  Their abilities, discoveries and talents continue to amaze me each year.

Please don' hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I can be reached at home until 9:00 in the evening.

We should have a wonderful year .

Sarah T. Wallace
