LESLIE ADDICKS GRADES 5-8 |

Leslie Addicks Although not consecutive, I am happy to begin my 9th year of teaching at St. Francis. I returned to New England this summer and was faced with a tornado that did quite a lot of damage in Springfield, Massachusetts. Unfortunately it hit my husband's school and destroyed most buildings. However, everyone made it to the basement with moments to spare and no one was hurt. We did not experience the heat you did in this part of the country, but we had our share of humid days mixed with our New England cool evenings. I hope all of you had a great summer and are ready to meet the challenges of another spectacular school year. August 2011 Leslie Addicks first came to St. Francis in the fall of 1994. Being a native of the east coast, she was immediately struck by the change in weather, persistent humidity and mild winters. It didn’t take long to settle into the St. Francis family, teaching 3-4 science, middle school mathematics, and algebra. Mrs. Addicks served on a variety of committees addressing professional development, curriculum and values, as well as, participating in our International School to School Exchange Program traveling to Mexico and Australia. Mrs. Addicks has taught in a variety of day and boarding schools, teaching mathematics from 2nd through 11th grades. Her teaching career began at Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn Heights, and continued at Rumsey Hall School (Washington, CT), Berkshire Country Day School (Lenox, MA), Indian Mountain School (Lakeville, CT), where she chaired the math department. Prior to returning to St. Francis this fall, Mrs. Addicks served as the 7th Grade Dean and Math Department Chair at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. About 5 years ago, Mrs. Addicks and her husband returned to New England to be near family. Mrs. Addicks continued teaching at a local school while following her passion for quilting. However, she welcomed the opportunity to return to Goshen, KY. “St. Francis has become the benchmark by which I compare other schools. It has that magical combination of providing a genuine education in a progressive and exciting environment that respects the individual as well as the community.”
