1st Trimester - Welcome

We have designed a great program that will meet the needs of our fifth and sixth grade students this year.

Mr. Hutton will be your student's Math teacher.

Mrs. Martin will be their Language Arts teacher.

Mrs. Hutton will be their Science and Social Studies teacher.

Things you should know....

6th Grade

Laguage Arts:  Students are beginning the trimester with a Theme "for each Houghton Mifflin story.   Each story selection has a list of vocabulary words and a PDF study guide on my (Mrs. Martin's) homework page. 

There is also a link to the Houghton Mifflin website (www.eduplace.com/kids) where you can find an e-glossary that has all of the definitions for the vocabulary words, a vocabulary practice game and more!  This is a great resource to use.

Writing:  We have been building up to our writing and students will be completing many writing assignments.  These include - Responses to Literature, Country Reports, Summary Writing, and Journal Writing.  Writing is a process:  Plan, Write, Revise, Edit, Final Draft, Publish!  It does take a lot of time and effort, but the kids are so proud of themselves when done.

If you need to reach one of your student's teachers you will find that email is the best way.  We do have voicemail, however it usually blinks at us three days later, and thus is not reliable.
