1. And so it begins...
Friday night, August 28 Ten days until the students walk through the doors of NWLHS for the first day of school. The high school is in the middle of a huge renovation project; that means noise, dust, detours, confusion, short tempers, unusual classroom arrangments (my first period English class is in a chem lab!), but with a sense of humor and a big dose of patience, we will survive. Hey, if the elementary school students can thrive despite the construction, surely we can do the same! I promised myself that I wasn't going to get into the bad habit of sleeping late this summer; that promise fell to the wayside by mid-June. For the past week, I've been up at 6:30 so I can attend teacher in-service training, and it's been tough. I seem to remember being a morning person once upon a time. I think it was in the early 80's.... The district is trying to use as little paper as possible. I'm trying to figure out how to put my lessons and assignments online. Blackboard? Wikispace? A digital dropbox? So many choices, so little time to get one up and running in time for the start of school.
