Homework
In Kindergarten, I ask that your children read each night as their homework. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the important thing is that they are being exposed to literature and reading. 1. Read a bedtime story 2. Have your child tell you a story just by looking at the pictures in a book. 3. Check out some books on tape from the library. Listen to them in the car on the drive to or from school. 4. Allow your child to read to a stuffed animal or a sibling. 5. Have an older sibling read to your child. It is just as important that your child sees you reading too. I know it can be hard to do, but make some time where everyone in the family is enjoying a book. They need to see you reading for enjoyment to emphasis that reading is fun!
