Dear Parents,

We began the week by going on our field trip to the I-MAX Theater. You can see information about the film on the following site: http://www.animalopolisfilm.com/index.html.  The children really enjoyed the film about animals.  One child leaned over during the movie and said, “I really love this!” We read The Night Before Thanksgiving and Thank You, Thanksgiving.  During Writing Workshop, we wrote and drew about things they were thankful for. We practiced handwriting and completed a phonic sheet.  We also read another story about a grandfather called Song and Dance Man.  The children finished dictating their thoughts on their grandparents. These are hanging in the room with their grandparent portraits. Thank you for sending in the items to put in the autobiography boxes.  We will be sharing them next week and they will come home after grandparents’ day.  The children have been working very hard practicing for the performance.   Mrs. Aberle requests that your child wear something they might wear to a fancy dinner on Grandparents’ Day. The children are eager to show off their talents and work in the classroom.  We look forward to seeing you next week!

During math, we practiced making addition math sentences by rolling dice and writing down the two numbers. We discussed the symbols: +plus and =equal.  We also practiced counting items. During science, we finished labeling the parts of a tree on the inside of their drawings.  We read an old favorite The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Thank you to Olivia’s mom for coming in to celebrate special friend with us.  Also, thank you to Robin and Denise for helping the children with the project for the auction.  It is really special!

We finished the week with a school assembly.  Each grade shared a little about their outreach project.  Jack K. and Carloyn did a great job telling about our field trip to Oxmoor Lodge.

Have a GREAT weekend!
