WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!! 
I am very thankful for all the wonderful parents that support St. Barnabas. You are so important in making your child and our school successful. I am thankful for the bright and cheerful students that come into my room and begin each day with a smile. They really brighten up my morning! I am thankful for the awesome people that I work with everyday. We are so blessed to have each one of them teaching in our school. GOD BLESS Karen Miller NO SCHOOL - NOV. 26th LATE ARRIVAL - DEC. 1st - 10:00 Week of 11/24/08 Religion - We will be learning about our baptism. Please send in a picture of your child's baptism by Wednesday. We will make a bulletin board for everyone to see. You will get yur pictures back by Thanksgiving. Language Arts - We will be reviewing the skills from the last book/; There will be a vocab. test and a comprehension test this week. Printing - We will learn how to print the letters Vv,Yy, Ww. Please continue to review the paper showing the correct way to form each letter, as well as the proper way to sit and hold a pencil. We will continue to review the correct wa to print numbers. Please correct your child especially if they continue to make backwards letters or numbers. Math - We will continue with addition. Please make sure you are working with the math facts of +4. They will be having timed test over the facts. I am allowing 4 sec./problem. Keep practicing if this isn't being accomplished. PLEASE DO NOT let your child use their fingers to add. This is a very bad habit and the easiest way to stop it is to not start it! Thanks for helping. Writing - In writer's workshop the students are learning to write in different genres.
