Ms. McCormick's Class 1-H Happy New Year!!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful break and got to visit with family and friends.
This is a new year and therefore a time for new beginnings. It is a perfect time to set up those routines to help your child succeed.
1. Set up a specific place for your child to do his/her written homework as well as reading, studying spelling words & phonograms, etc.
2. Make practicing spelling words, phonograms, math facts, etc. a game.
a)Make flash cards ( you can use the back of junk mail and be eco-friendly).
b) use shaving cream on the bathtub wall to practice writing spelling words, etc.
c) play "I Spy" in the car and ask your child to read the words or tell you the phonograms in the signs you see all around you
Be positive and don't get behind-the 3 rd quarter is usually the hardest as it has the most new information and skills needed to succeed for the rest of the year and also in 2nd grade.
