Students Taking Academic Responsibility

image

STAR is an acronym for Students Taking Academic Responsibility.  Your child is required to take this binder home every afternoon and is also responsible for bringing it back to school the next school day.  I will be checking the contents of the binder each morning. Here is how it is organized:

•    Money pouch:  Please place any lunch money, field trip money, or donation money into this pouch.  This is also a safe place for your child to store his/her “Hills Bills.”
•    Our monthly class newsletters can be found at the beginning of your child’s STAR Binder each month.  Please make sure you read the newsletters, as they will update you on curriculum and activities occurring in that month.
•    Parent/Teacher Communication: This section will include your child’s agenda.  This is the place for your child to write his/her homework assignments as well as for you to initial nightly.  This is also the place for us to communicate.  You may write a note in your child’s agenda or place it in the pocket of the folder for this section.
•    Homework: All homework assignments will be placed in this folder.  Once an assignment is completed at home, it should be placed in the folder to be returned to school.
•    Class Handbook:  This section includes a list of students in our class as well as the homework helper phone list.
This section includes a school year calendar, our class daily schedule, special schedule, list of suggested supplies, classroom procedures, rules, and behavior chart for reference throughout the school year.
