Monthly Book Club

     Mrs. Lessard’s Book Club is up and running!  This is a great way to encourage students to read more at home.  We all know that third grade is full of reading skills that students must apply in their reading in order to have a successful school year.  I hold a strong conviction that all students can become excellent readers with practice.  My goal for this school is to promote reading at home in an exciting way!  

At the beginning of each month, I will reveal the book of the month.  Students will have until the end of the month to read the book and complete a critic sheet.  We will then have a book club meeting to discuss the book while enjoying a treat.  I will be choosing books that are leveled appropriately for the school year.  The level will increase as the year continues.

The books for our book club will not be provided.  The books can be borrowed from the local library or can be purchased from Barnes & Noble or online at www.amazon.com.

Our book club is extra practice and CAN be counted for the Quarterly Reading Log.  Students who join our class book club, will not only participate in our end of the month discussions, but will also be invited to the end of the year Book Club Celebration!
