Economy of Room 932

Our banking unit begins on the first day of school. Students earn “Hills Bills.” Students are given check register book (Donated by Bank of America). Students have a “Money Pouch” in their S.T.A.R. Binder to keep their money and banking items safe. The students will learn how to use the check register, deposit slips, and checks. Each student will have a bank account set up in the “Lessard Bank.” Students will be responsible for maintaining their bank accounts. Our economy also has fines and fees so students have the experience of budgeting and withdrawing money. The students also have the opportunity to create a business (such as a travel agency to plan “trips” or cleaning service to clean students’ desks) to earn an income. Of course, students will have to apply for a business license. Students will also be paid a salary for classroom jobs. Our class will have the opportunity to conduct banking and business (Economic Time) on Fridays during a set time.
