Music Participation Grading policy:

Students earn 100 points through the course of the quarter (10 points each for 10 days in music class).    Participation & Behavior counts for one-third of their music grade, unless there are no music tests that quarter.  If there are no music tests during the quarter, Participation & Behavior counts for one-half of their grade.

·         If a homework assignment is turned in late, two points are deducted from their individual participation grade. 

·         If an individual has a problem with behavior or with lack of participation, two points are removed from their individual grade. 

·         If a class has to be reminded more than three times to settle and focus during the course of a lesson, one point is deducted from the class’s daily grade. 

·         If a student is absent, they lose two points from their individual  participation grade.   

Unless a student has chronic absences or persistent behavior problems, their participation & behavior average is usually an A.   One or even two absences will not greatly affect their participation grade.
