September

What fun we had getting to know each other during the first month of school!  We went to our first school liturgy with our 4th grade buddies, we met all of our new Specials teachers, we became masters of the fire drill, we have enjoyed our first Goddrop assembly, shared Where in the World and Kindergarten scientist and we have settled in nicely to the start of Kindergarten!  It's going to be a great year!  We are looking forward to our first field trip to the pumpkin farm in October!  Happy Fall everyone!

October

Great learning in October - we started each day with a Hail Mary, honoring Jesus's Mother in this way during her special month.  We learned about pumpkins, Halloween colors (Ask us to read you our books we made!), and many other fall things.  We are trying our best to read - even though Sr. Katherine Ann tells us we're not supposed to!  (We sneak it in whenever we can!)  We took a field trip to the pumpkin farm which was great fun!!!  (Thank you to the many adults who attended and assisted us!) God provided us with perfect weather in mid - October!  We ended our month with a Halloween celebration in our classroom with costumes, treats and seasonal activities!!  Indeed, we are blessed.

November

We had much to be thankful for during the month of November.  Our prayer leaders (and all friends) were able to thank God for special things prior to eating our daily snack.  (We are getting so good at impromptu prayers!)  We "went" to Vermont and North Carolina during 2 Where in the World presentations.  We are learning geography in exciting ways!!!  Our Kindergarten scietists have taught us about tornadoes as well as what makes things sink and float.  We have started making Sight Word Wheels and are enjoying reading them to each other in school and our families at home!  We are thankful for our families and friends and that we are at a school where we can get "caught acting like Jesus"!  We're looking forward to Jesus's birthday next month.

December

Picture of a boy holding toys, saying: Jesus is the best gift of all!

December is always one of our most JOY-filled months - we were all anxiously awaiting the coming of Jesus!  We started our moth by enjoying "Donuts with Dads"!  Many of our activities helped prepare us for the coming of Jesus!  We made gifts for our loved ones (snow globes, ornaments and magents) and made gifts for the residents of Fleming Point Retirement Community where we shared our Christmas spirit.  We love making our own books - this month it was Hats Off to Christmas and A Very Merry Mouse.  (Don't tell Sr. Katherine Ann but many of us can read these ALL BY OURSELVES!)  We loved reading all the books we possibly could on the real meaning of Christmas - the birth of Jesus.  We ended our month with a birthday party for Jesus in school with our families and a school-wide sing along/prayer service!  May you continue to welcome Christ into your hearts this new year!

January

January may have been a somewhat chilly month but we stay warm in KG!  We learned about Martin Luther King and how being different, no matter how, is something to be celebrated!  We know that God created all of us, wanted us to be different and love each other just the same!  We have had some incredible science experiments (wild and wacky colors, elephant paint and butter making) and made a book to remind us of our "role" as scientists - to observe, measure and compare (to name a few).  Talk about fun!  We continue to enjoy the anticipation of our next Goddrop in class!  We love learning about each other!  Speaking of love, we look forward to February and celebrating our love for God, family and friends!
