Theatre I Theatre I: Introduction to Theatre

Theatre I is an introductory course designed to give an overview of the world of theatre. Students will gain acting experience through monologues, scene work, pantomime, improvisation, classical performance, musical theatre, and play performance.

Students will learn about the origins of theatre through a history unit. Students are required to read a minimum of one full length play per quarter and analyze the structure of the play. Students will explore their senses and emotions through class exercises. Students also keep a daily notebook for notes and new vocabulary words.

All students taking a theatre course perform 3 times during the year for a live audience during the Winter One Acts (December), Broadway Memories (March), and Theatre Awards Nights (May).

All Theatre students are required to see all Coronado Theatre productions (Fall Play, Student Directed One-Acts and Spring Musical) and write a 1 page review.  Please see Theatre Handbook for more details.

There is a $20 course fee.
